The 'perfect storm' creates a number of challenges for the world of work. Increasing numbers of older people alongside decreasing numbers of young people is and will continue to put a strain on the labour market. The 'Boomers', who will be the main component of this increasing older labour market, may have alternative expectations regarding the extent and length of time they are willing to commit to longer working. Scenarios reflecting how the 'new' labour market choose to work in different ways, for different periods and from different locations, must be considered if the economy is to be viable.
